Do you make your own weedkiller Peter?
We are limited here for weedkiller and insecticides.
You can't use most insecticides unless you are qualified in doing it and it's limited to what you can buy.
My afternoons are spent, squishing Cochineal!

Usually mix two different types one to attack the green another to attack the roots

nice garden san,
those leylandii are a pain they were in my garden when i first moved in not as tall as yours about 15 ft, trimmed the branches off and used the trunk to lever them over to rip the roots out, but the fence was no good either so it was ok to do that
sometime weeds have a wax coating on them like mares tail which protects them i have a burner which i use before putting weed killer down if im getting rid of certain weeds

here a weedkiller for you to try been trying it out myself its not as quick as bought of the shelf but should work for you as you have nice hot days, 1/2 to 2/3 of water to a spray bottle, top the other 1/3 up with household white vinegar and spray the weeds with that, do it every other day to start with, see what results you get mine are dying loosing their green colour you can use malt if no white vinegar, i didn't use malt case it stained the bricks, don't forget add the vinegar to the water not the other way around as it an acid

Good recipe Peter! I have shared it with family.
Weeds aren't really a problem here, roots are shallow and summer they don't grow.
I have used this on red spider mite

And it's working!

Everything crossed!
