Can I be cheeky and ask for a couple of military lookups please. The afore mentioned Ernest may have enlisted in US army as we have a photo of 3 unknown soldiers one of whom was said to be father of child born 1932. He may have emigrated, fought then returned to Uk where he died 1971.
I dont have ancestry etc but did find a couple of results on their military page:
US WW11 draft cards young men 1940-47 , Ernest H Lawrence residence Virginia and
US dept veterans affairs BIRLS death file 1850-2010 with the name Ernest F Lawrence died 1971. Is this F a typo?
Probably a long shot but worth a try.

I could apply for the death cert I suppose, but as he isn't in my tree I'm loathe to spend money on it!

Our messages must have crossed.
The last occupation I have is on his marriage in 1929 when he is a butcher at Coxheath Farm Kent, but he then became a guest house owner at Bognor before he left.

Are there any other names mentioned on probate?

Have just accessed the 1921 census and found Ernest still in Leicester aged 18yrs and 0mths, giving him a birthdate of June 1903 (census 19 June) and his occupation is butchers assistant, so that defo ties him into the one who married Daisy in 1929, and the one who died 1971. As for 1939 and if he remarried I'm still unsure and may never know. If his probate mentions a widow shall be onto a winner. There is a possible marriage to a Vera J S la-Parde Northcott but that is the only entry I can find for her, not even a birth or death.
