Any value in having an unusual blood group?

Not really, as people's blood groups are usually unavailable to view!
If there was a blood group database it would help!!

I THINK the names in red are the one's which show mothers maiden name to be the same as childs birth name, meaning it is more likely to be an unmarried mother

I've clicked on the link and have the downloading information from Alex. I do not understand what I am looking at. Where is the key to reading or saving the list of 1928 names? Where do I click please.

The link that Alec supplied is not a link to the list of names he supplied, however,
London Metropolitan Archives holds the in-care and adoption files from the London and Middlesex County County Councils,
covering the period 1926 to 1965.
and the link Alec gave you is to their website, it may be worth you contacting them to see if they can help you in any way with your search.

Alec has also left you the email address for the Foundling Museum,

and I would advise you to send them an e-mail as they may well be able to tell you of other avenues of research that we don't know about.

Thanks Alec. I've not looked at the list yet. I remember turning the pages of the big book for 1928 in the Records Office years ago and wondering if my past was there - I can now repeat that operation.Fantastic!!

Here is a potted history. I was thought to be about 5 months old when I was found on the doorstep of a convent. I was then transferred to a LCC orphanage in the London area. Its wherabouts I don't know. I was then fostered at about 5 yrs old. They gave me a name and a birth date. In my late teens I arranged a meeting with an official in County Hall who told me that there was NO information on me but gave me a piece of paper certifying my name and the birth date they had given me. We visited Somerset House initially and later the Records Office, but were overwhelmed with the enormity of the job. At my age there will be fewer unmarried women alive so less to trace. Of course the computing age helps.

I've emailed Veronica at Evening Standard - which was the Evening News at that time, and the Foundling Museum. I'll let you know. I may have a go at Ancestry.co.uk and go through Alec's list to refine the birth dates. Baff

Hi. I've just realised that there are pages as well as columns. I've had such a problem typing on my laptop that I've added a separate keyboard. Christmal with family most pleasant. Going to do New Year at a local restaurant - avoiding excessive drinking of course! . 2008 will see me joining genealogy for some serious work. Happy New Year Baff

We bought the son an outside keyboard for his laptop -so much better isn't it, we had a nice family Christmas at the daughter's -nice not to have to cook Christmas but having a quite evening in at New Year's Eve

I spent Christmas day at my aunt & uncle's and boxing day at my dads so no cooking or washing up on either day ....... a little too much wine on both days though!!!!!!

New Year will be spent at home ..... with more wine!!!!
