Hello Again

I think I've made some mistaken connections having looked on the links on BCC for William Fudge (1808-1891). I think he was the son of William and Sarah Jane Perry (married Sedgley 1803).

I was assuming that the marriage 1834 St Martin's Tipton was him (wllm 1808-1891), and that he was a widower at the time. However, I think now that this wasn't him. Looking at census returns he seems to have married an Eliza who died in 1848 (just ordered a death cert.) However, I can find no marriage or burial details on FreeReg for their marriage, or indeed the baptism of their children. William Fudge (1835-1866) did name his daughter Eliza (1859-1927) which is perhaps another clue?

Are there substantial chunks of records missing or not transcribed for the area? I'm planning a manual search methinks.

both srn and jrn marry a sarah perry

I always thought this, i'll order a birth certificate for Prudance Fudge, this should clarify things. At the moment it seems that there are a number of William Fudge's floating around the locality at this time, one marries Maria Weal, one an Eliza and the other Sarah Perry - I think she dies in 1837 (free reg Burial 10 Jan 1837 St Martin's Tipton). If this is the case then she couldn't be the mother of the children and then William Fudge (1808-1891) waits a long time to then marry Delilah Massey.

Thanks for all the help and input, I thought this would be easy as it's an uncommon surname for the locality...

I think that birth certif would be a good idea see if mother is a Sarah Perry or Eliza unknown.

The trouble is Wm snr snr might marry 2 sarah Perrys.

or Wm snr marries Sarah perry she dies in 1837 and he is then with Eliza unk and then Delilah

can you let us know the info on the birth certif when you get it?
