but looks like other kids bapt same day

Looks then like they were with the weslyn one at stourbridge for susannah and ann then moved to
oldswinford church for others and had susannah rebapt but dob is slightly diff.

Here's my twopennorth

In Getagrip’s first post where it’s mentioned “in a census record shows her as Susannah Salt with “Susannah Bashford” in brackets”, this looks like somebody on Ancestry has got the wrong Susannah and the surname Salt has nothing to do with Susannah who marries William Priest.

Re the 2 baptisms for Susannah Bashford, could be that the family were Wesleyan (non-conformist) and then decided to change their religion to Church of England at St Mary's Oldswinford and also just got the birth dates wrong.

On the 1871 census where William & Susannah Priest are with her mother, it isn’t William Priest who is (Idiot from birth) it’s Lucy Bashford.

You are spot on BC Wench. Susannah Salt, father Joseph, a carpenter, seems to have been living with the Bashford family from birth and married "step-sibling" William Bashford. Susannah is my 3rd great-grandmother. I sense a scandal involving Joseph Salt and the Bashfords but I may be wrong. I have found Susannah lodging with another family when she was 20 years old and working at the Angola Factory, whatever that is. So I still can't find a Lye connection.

But that Susannah is a different Susannah than the one with parents Thomas Bashford and Esther

So if your line is Susannah Salt that marries Wm Bashford here
