We're travelling for 4 months, NL. It's becoming an annual event - our escape from the Melbourne winter. It's great! Leave in autumn and come back in spring.

Cania Gorge was lovely. There were all sorts of beautiful wild birds - they were not really that wild - they landed on my head when they thought I had some food for them. Saw the cute little betongs. Did great walks through the gorges. It was VERY cold overnight though. 0.9 degrees! But NOW we're in the tropics and hopeful of some proper tropical weather.

Now at Katherine in the Northern Territory. It's lovely and warm. We cooked and ate dinner outside under the stars and moon with big fruit bats flapping around overhead. Someone is setting off firecrackers somewhere in the caravan park and it's stampeding the 3 friendly little steers who were snoozing at the back of our camper.

Wallabies were grazing in the paddock next door at dusk.

Today we strolled along the river to the Katherine Hot Springs. These produce lots of water which comes out of the ground at 60 degrees centigrade and flows down as a lovely crystal clear stream. There were lots of elderlies sitting about in it. Supposed to be good for the 'artheritis'... probably for bad backs, too, Mally.

Brian and I didn't go in as we're much too young.

Tomorrow we head for the Douglas-Daly River. They say there are lots of big fish in it ... also lots of crocodiles!

It's HOT!!! The man who invented air conditioners should be given the Nobel Peace Prize!

Too hot to keep on the go all day so it's early morning cruises on lagoons or walks in the bush, and then lazing about by the pool in tropical gardens until it's time for dinner under the stars. It's tough, but someone has to do it.

Today we've looked at some beautiful aboriginal rock paintings and watched sunset over the floodplains from the top of Ubirr Rock.

Yesterday it was a dawn cruise on Yellow Waters Lagoon with lots of beautiful birds and some very BIG crocodiles

We've turned around, Jimmy. went as far North as Darwin, then started down through Kakadu. Tomorrow we're seriously on the Southward track - Katherine tomorrow, then a series of back-of-roadhouse overnight stops to the Centre. I'm looking forward to the Alice, Uluru and Kings Canyon.

Rain or no rain Jimmy, you cannot better the English Countryside, there's nowhere else I'd rather be, and all our history to boot. Happy hols Di from Linell.
