Re: A moan about people moaning.
How about this, the Co-op moved into a pub in the aforementioned mile strip, to stop Tesco getting hold of it. Kept it open for 3 month trial, that was nearly 2 years ago and they obviously making money out of it. THey build 2 houses on the old pub garden, reducing the footprint for potential larger store, that should keep the Tesco wolves from gaining a foothold.
Hit a Brickwall? Have you lost all trace of someone? Do not despair, simply make a note they were abducted by aliens! Don't believe in aliens? No problem, just write them off as having disapeared in a time portal

We do have a lot of supermarkets around Oldbury and Quinton, but I have to say I use them a lot more than I used to use the run down and not very clean pubs which stood on a couple of the places where they have been built, and whenever I do use them, the car parks are packed. In fact, I had trouble finding a space yesterday on ASDA, the last time I went in the pub a few years ago (the Kings Highway) which stood on the same ground, the place was nearly empty. The only pubs that seem to do OK these days are the ones that serve decent food. So - I for one, who happen to live in the area, am quite happy that the pubs are gone and we have the supermarkets.
Thanks Antie Em for the dig!! It's true i shouldn't criticise if [i] i dont live in the area[i].
I will in future keep my opinions to myself.I stand corrected!!
Still luv ya though Rob xxx

Re: A moan about people moaning.
I remember as a teenager, waiting patiently in line for the bus in our local town.
Two very mobile OAP's (I use the term loosely, as one being about 15 they seemed very old to me!!) were standing away from the actual bus stop. Then as the bus arrived they manoeuvred to the front of the queue, in front of some people who weren't quite as fit as they were. I happened to be sitting behind then and heard them have a good moan about the "youth of today", and their total lack of manners and respect for the "elder generation".
I had to bite my tongue, I really wanted to tell than that this "youth" (me!!) had stood patiently by, while they queue jumped in front of other less able elderly people - however I decided that if I said something I may just reinforce their warped view of the world!!
