I think that John who marries Winnifred is a Carpenter not sure
wot is a Polisher ...John snr on marriage is Polisher....does that mean furniture?
1881 3 Bk 14 Howe St Aston, Warwick,
John EBBERN 72 Sowe, Warwick, Aged
Winfred EBBERN 70 Sowe, Warwick,
Frederick OWEN Boarder 45 Macclesfield, Cheshire, House Painter
Ann OWEN 51 Shropshire,
Frederick OWEN 18 Wednesbury House Painter
can we track him back?
I think he is the one with that Ann
she must die
but no John with that couple
the marriage of John and Winnifred may hold more info
and what is this John with Winnifred on all the census ie occup

polisher could mean a french polisher its the shinny lacquer finish you use to get on old furniture
a carpenter would know how to do french polishing ?
could do with them early census first as winifred might be second wife

Just found this.....Births Mar 1845
SMITH John *ins Aston 16 242
Cos I think he is that John Ebbler 1846 with those smiths in 1851
and then in 1861 he is a John smith
that could say Ebbins....and they cant read it!
can we work out via when he died when he should have been born
think he died 18th may 1902 age 56
so when would the birth be?
Deaths Jun 1902
Ebbon John 56 Aston 6d 195

Ok been thinking about this.....
What if Thomas Bourn Smith is his father and actually.....a Thomas John Ebbon or John Thomas Ebbbon
there was some talk before about 2 brothers falling out
and one of em changed their name....what better name to change it to than Smith!!
So we have Thomas Ebbon Smith
notice the job Gun finisher...well a finisher of guns could be surely called a Polisher too
and look what he calls his son a Thomas J Ebbon.
Perhaps that is why he is a Smith on 1881 (parents automatically gave enumerator the name Smith)
but he reverted back when married to orginal name ie Ebbon
1881 Bk 98 Dartmouth St. Aston, Warwick
Thomas SMITH Head 64 Birmingham, Warwick, Gun Finisher
Sarah SMITH Wife 61 Birmingham, Warwick,
also
John SMITH Head 35 Birmingham, Warwick, Boiler Maker
Martha SMITH Wife 40 Northampton, Button Carder
Mary Ann SMITH 10 Birmingham, Warwick, Scholar
John Thomas SMITH 8 Birmingham, Warwick, Scholar
George Fredk. SMITH 3 Birmingham, Warwick,
found that marriage i was on about
that marriage will be interesting if looked at
THOMAS BOURN SMITH
SARAH BARRATT
Marriage: 22 NOV 1847 Saint Thomas, Birmingham, Warwick,
1881 Bk 98 Dartmouth St. Aston, Warwick
Thomas SMITH Head 64 Birmingham, Warwick, Gun Finisher
Sarah SMITH Wife 61 Birmingham, Warwick,
also
John SMITH Head 35 Birmingham, Warwick, Boiler Maker
Martha SMITH Wife 40 Northampton, Button Carder
Mary Ann SMITH 10 Birmingham, Warwick, Scholar
John Thomas SMITH 8 Birmingham, Warwick, Scholar
George Fredk. SMITH 3 Birmingham, Warwick,
So I think we need to explore this Thomas Smith find him on all previous census
What u think?
I think there are 2 possible births...
if died 18 may 1902
June 1845 ( ie may/June regis)
March/June 1846 regis
Births Jun 1846
SMITH John Harry Aston 16 184
Births Jun 1845
SMITH John Aston 16 185
there is that one I flagged earlier but it is March 1845 and John Ebbon would have been 57 in 1902 when he died
SMITH John *ins Aston 16 242
the one that strikes me is the John Harry one
he calls one of his kids that I think...Henry ebbon dob Dec 1884 later called Harry
