might have made up name Joseph on his marriage .....which means that the other marriage in 1849 is not his line

I am totally confused , its mind boggling

I think that Martha is Josephs mother ( I am connecting up on Bcc)

On marriage father is a Joseph Woodhouse I think this is maybe taking first name of Joseph Ashman who martha woodhouse marries
and keeping Woodhouse surname ...see this quite a lot on look ups.
They made names up to.

Joseph is with Hannah Woodhouse as son in 1851 ...but bapt says differently ...ie son of Martha

then the census in 1861 and 1871 fit.

So Mercy's Family have got most of it wrong ? That is why it did not add up . Dt

It didnt add up to me but I have only added what I think on Bcc I may be wrong
but to me it looks good ....

If I had some spare pennies I would get Martha or ellens certifs to check mothers name

up to you if you fancy doing that

I might do it later, but i can see why Mercys family seem confused . They have a tree on Ancestry , thats where i got all the certificate information . It was because i noticed she was trying to connect to the Woodhouses on Ancestry . I thought maybe i could connect to BCC ,and find out more. When you pointed out the mistake i had made with the Thomas ,when it should have been Joseph I realised there was something very wrong. I had seen the Ashwin cenus , but not the experience to see what you have found . I think you are right it does make sense. Thanks very much for your help . I have learnt alot today but i will always make sure with the forum. You are all the BEST Dt
