But like you that Rudge connection you mentioned ages ago I think there is something there.
Why would William Smith be with a William Hackett and Betty Hackett nee Rudge in 1851 and there in 1841 (as well as with his mother in 1841)
Then Richard Coley Smith with Wm Hacketts son Thomas Hackett and wife Phebe in 1851.
got to be some connection to Rudge.
That marriage looks good for names of wits Thomas Coley ....button maker poss and a sarah Hill.
is there a burial for a Joseph Coley that would fit?
Yes I agree, think we are getting somewhere, none of them have baps though. Think the answer lies in Illey, Joseph Coley born 1785 with wife Sarah, must have had a brother, we know there was a Joseph there in 1766 from the Manor Suit Rolls, can only find them through Burials though, I just searched the Burials from 1813 to 1837, will have a look at the earlier ones. Yes will also look for a burial for Joseph born 1785.

Seems to me that they all connect from Jimmy's family here:-
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... ley-FamilyCould John born 1790 be father of Lucy?
Been checking the 1841 Census - Frankley which is a couple of miles from Illey
John Coley 85 Nailer
Nancy Coley 80
Mary Andrews 35
Esan Andrews 9
Jacob Andrews 9
Ann 7
All born in County
I found John's Burial Halesowen - 26.10.1846 John Coley Illey 89
25.9.1842 Nancy Coley Illey 86
Notice the reference to Illey, so they had either moved to Illey between 1841 and 1842 or the Vicar new they were connected to Illey!
Also found:-
27.4.1856 Josiah Coley Illey 35
19.12.1855 Ann Coley Illey 1

The only Coley's actually recorded in Illey in 1841 are Joseph and Sarah and children, plus Edmund aged 50 next door, with wife Mary and Joseph 16. The only other one was a Jane Coley in another household aged 50, do not know if she was Married or not? Linell.

I had a look at the Halesowen Burials for 1762 - 1812 there are dozens of them, of course there are no addresses, so not really much help.
Also at Worlds End Ridgeacre 1851 is a Josiah Coley U 56 Nail Forger with brother Thomas U 45 both born Halesowen.
And a John Hadley 54 Nail Forger born Ridgeacre Wife Harriot 45 born Lapal two sons George 25 and Aaron 16 both born Ridgeacre together with another Andrews John, SL U 18 Nail Forger born Northfield, was Harriot a second wife
