Could go on for ages about pet hates.

The misuse of alternate and alternative.

The stupidity of saying "Former world champion....."

They were made a World Champion and will always remain one!

Somebody else winning the World Championship after them does not stop them being World Champion unless it is a sport like boxing.

So Barry Sheene will always be the 1976 World Champion. He will never be "Former World Champion Barry Sheene".

Grrrrr.....

Back to the thread....

I'm all for using "proper" english, or danish for that matter - I hate it when modern words are "invented" - hate it when english words are used as slang by the danes without knowing what they really mean. For example, the teenagers use f***ing nice, for something that is really good, they are probably their parents don't realise what's really being said.

Having said that, english is a rich language that has evolved and will keep on evolving. What I think of as proper english is not what my grandparents would have thourght of as proper english.
