I've found Mercy Firkin's birth certificate and i've scanned it and sent it to NL.
It states clearly father is Joseph Firkin and mother is Eliza Firkin formerly Roberts.

Ok heard from Hull that marriage doesnt have father for Eliza as Thomas and doesnt have Josephs father
as Hezekiah or unknown so back to square one

odd isnt it we cant find marriage for them
they may not have married

Yes that's Eliza Roberts associated with Joseph Firkin but i was referring to the Eliza Roberts who married Joseph Mason in Hull 1854.
We need a marriage for Joseph Firkin and Eliza Roberts parents of Mercy Firkin.

So where do these two fit in your tree ,You think there might be a possibility that his real mother was not Marie . No silly she's his mum .Its his dad that might not be hid dad Dt Totally confused but i think i have got it.

did you know agnes firkins( Zephs daughter) ,joseph's cousin married a mason,but they were from brum.

Mercy Firkin daughter of Joseph and Eliza was my great grand mother.
As NL says maybe Joseph Firkin and Eliza Roberts never married.
Maybe we will never know for certain who Joseph Firkin's parents were?
