I may just have to get that certificate to see what it says for father of the groom. Long time (years) since I bought a certificate so I think I can indulge myself for once.

That Henry Young Darracott Scott was involved in the Royal Albert hall and South Kensington Museum building. His obit http://www.icevirtuallibrary.com/docser ... 152A9FCC06 is rather sad because he seems to have the got push from work and then he died.

And if George was the one you found in the 1851 census maybe his parents died the following year

Meant to say, this was the Royal School of Mines which is now part of Imperial College, London. From asking about another student there I know that they do have records but not including family details, just registration date and courses etc.

This George Seymour became the first president of the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy which you would have thought might have had a passing interest in their own history, but apparently not as all they could do was confirm that he was indeed the president!

That would make Darracott Seymour a Grand Nephew of the Spinsters if George was the son of their brother William.

Seems like the partners dies very close together. George and his missus. William and his wife.

Probably wiped out by some disease contracted overseas?

William was a doctor so I suppose he could have picked up anything.

Certain now that George was a Reckitt.
His sister Gertrude Charlotte is executor for his estate after he and his wife died http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/ ... 1/page.pdf

So (last challenge for you Mark) where was Charlotte in 1861/71?
I can see that she was in Cumberland in 1891 and Hampshire in 1911. Knowing my luck she was at school or something equally unhelpful! But it would be nice if she had been adopted by the same uncle Seymourþ

You can see in 1911 that Gladys is with her..so George was 100% a Rekitts.

Can't see her on any passenger lists.

Last record I have found is in the London Voters List of 1919.

She died in 1921.

I think we can call this done now. I just found a death announcement for George Seymour of Bray, Wicklow, in 1849, the father of Mrs William Reckitt of Boston. So I'm guessing that Anne Matilda (Seymour) Reckitt gave her maiden name as middle name to son George Reckitt, and George was then adopted by his uncle George Seymour who may have been Anne's brother.
