Probably this one Peter

http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... ton-Family

I did a lot of research on the Cradley Cramptons, they all connect from one Jonathan Crampton born 1720

This is Samuel and Maria Gill no connection as far as I am aware.

Thanks Peter and Linell. It is the Jonathon CRAMPTON (1720) line that I am interested in.

The whole line is recorded on BCC but I haven't as yet checked archives. Before doing this or contacting the premises, I would like to exhaust all efforts to trace the location. I am so grateful for all the help provided by the forum.

Thanks to Aunt Em, I have contacted Tony and await a reply?

Best wishes......OldBill

Bill I have as far as I know every book and every photograph that has been published on Cradley, no Horse Shoe Inn anywhere. If Nigel has never heard of it either, it may have been short lived and was not recorded on any documents. Linell.

Thank you all so much for your efforts.

The Bedcote Street reference is encouraging but putting my synacal head again, I cannot rule out linell's thoughts. Would Bedcote Street go under the Colley Gate district? I believe the street has gone but does anyone know if it has been renamed?

In 1881 Census, Philip is living at 45 Windmill Hill H & S. Does anyone know what the H & S stands for? If anyone has access to the manuscript copy of the Census, I would be interested on your thoughts after your perusal.

Thanks yet again.

It says NES - North East Side - from the District 11 Discription

"Township of Cradley, commencing at Samuel Gates Buildings, Furlong Lane, Windmill Hill, North East Side, to Samuel Hingley, including All the houses at the back"

Looks like it is only on the 1871 Census Jan. Bedcote was an ancient Parish between Stourbridge and Old Swinford, it was encompassed into the Parish of Stourbridge. Two Gates and on into Oldnall and down into Wollescote, Lye then Stourbridge was the main road a couple of hundred years ago. I have no idea where Bedcote Street was in Cradley, yes a lot of the roads have all be changed and re-named Bill, not much of the old Cradley left now, we know the Crampton family lived in the Windmill Hill and Two Gates area of Cradley which as I described was the main road to Stourbridge all those years ago, it would stand to reason that Bedcote Street was in that area. Hope this helps. Linell.
