Yes its best to get certs to confirm. Im not sure if there is a way to find about name changes?
I think it would be best to split this topic as its rather big and its hard to pick out pieces for others to help you. I will do it.

I havent had chance to add anymore. But it looks like there is a tree on ancestry, are you a member?
If not I could contact the person and direct them to the forum to see if you have a connection? They have Jones and Hackett too.

Hey Jo

Have had several emails from Lindsey - tree owner - already. It's the same motley crew. Now there's another person trying to sort out the Florence, Horace, Frederick saga. The plot thickens.

It looks like Florence Maud White and Horace Mansell Jones (alias Hackett) possibly married in 1895 with Horace using the name Arthur Hackett??! They had three children, Horace, Marie and Henry Conrad. In Dec 1901 Horace married Mabel Burgess. By 1911 Florence was with Frederick John Edwards and they'd had Leslie...but all 4 children were raised as Edwards'. It also appears that Florence and Frederick may have married in 1918?!

I shall continue on with my quest. Thanks for all you help.

Shall we mark this thread completed or do you think someone may yet know Leslie Edwards or Florence?
