Hi all - Laura is related to me via Thomas Layton[1893] and comes down the Tree via Alice Lilian Layton [1915 -2007] & Alice married Walter Leslie Layton [1914] whom we have establish where has come from within the TREE [Joseph Layton & Mary Rudge= Walter Layton & Sarah Hackett], Laura then goes on to say that Alice & Walter's second child Wendy Denise Layton [1940] is my husband's Grandma? (i) Can we have full details on this Laura as this seem to be another second possible second cousin marriage. (ii) the one I can not solve is Lily [1904] my mother's aunt had a daughter Linda Siviter [1922] (iii) Arthur Geoffrey Greenwood [1911] married a Linda in 1942 and it would appear that they had two children Peter [1944] & Roger [1946]. This would consistant with the photograph that I have that has on the back of it "Linda, Roger & Peter ( with Peter being the taller of the two boys and my mothers writing " My Niece and two sons") - Once that is cleared up the Layton side of the family is OK. As for the HACKETT's , I am resolved that I may never know where Sidney ended up. I will again try further seaching in Canada, but the only Hackett that contacted me did not shed any light on the subject, an Jan Rolinson (nee Hackett) of Halesowen ; she indicated "why do think your mother was brought up by Grand parents William & Sarah Layton" and in my reply to her I did indicate that mum never corresponded with Hackett's in England only her father in Canada [unfortunatley I do not have an address only photos with comments on the back] Jan has never responded to my email for further details of her side of the Hackett's and her link to Sidney
Cheers Raymond

Hi all - I have seen the photo posted and it indicated Linda (nee Fisher) that doesnot agree with the comment of the reverse side of the picture I have "Linda my niece" for this to be correct she would have to be a layton or a Hackett.

I have seen a copy of a Statutory Declaration from Frank Nathaniel Wiggin b 5/4/1883 Chicago, Illinois, USA (Mary Layton's second husband) that they arrived in Australia from England on the SS Waipara in Sept 1915, I have search Ancestry.com.au but was unsuccessful in this and have located an Australain Government site that indicates the ship did arrive in Queensland then but I will have to go to there Offices next week to view the miro-film records to confirm this.

Cheers - Raymond

Hi Pete My hunch on this will not be known until I hear from Peter Greenwood. The L Siviter my mother was writing to was either Lily Layton (1904) married Joseph H Siviter and had daughter Linda (b1922) and this would be consistent with the comment "niece" on the photo - my thoughts - Further, I have news back that George Layton (1907) grandaughter [Catherine Darrall] has sent details to her father (Arthur b 1928) regarding details of both her family and Elsie (1902) Layton. Arthur has details and is in contact with Elsie's family.

Hi one and all

Thanks for your wonderfull help - I now have twenty five (25) pages of notes [A4] that I have down loaded from the sight to sift through in conjunction with the Trees on BCC to put into some form to put the HORSEY/HACKETT/LAYTON Tree on the Tribal Pages so that anyone researching any part of what you pepole have done for me can see where my mother Edith spead the name of Hackett in Australia and where Mary Layton/Hackett/Wiggin spead her name also in Australia.

And with a bit more input from my now known cousins, some picture should come up on site with more rambling and missing gaps filled in when we know the results from Peter Greenwood and the news from George Layton's grandaughter Catherine.

This have been an amazing experience for me, may God bless all of you for your wonderful effort.

Cheers Raymond

Hi all this is the latest news
I had the wrong information thinks my mother was correct in writing that Linda was her neice when in fact Geoffrey Greenwood was mums nephew. Geoffrey Greenwood was the son of Lily Layton (b1904 - correct name Lillian) and was adopted by Annie Layton (b1891) who married Thomas Greenwood (b1887). Geoffrey married Linda Fisher (b ? ) and had two children Peter & Roger as shown in the photo that Mum had.

I do not know when Geoffrey or Linda Fisher were born (we do know of the marriage somewhen back in the proceedings. This information was given to me by the Catherine, daughter of Arthur Layton (b1928) granddaughter of George Layton (b1907). They do not know where Peter is located at present but her farther is trying to find out from Elsie Layton's (b 1902) grandchildren.

I can also fill in other gaps, however this week I am having to work most of the time (It is grim when you retire and work part time to keep your head above water and having not worked for several months and I get one full week of work)

So I will get all the other info over the next week or so.

Cheers and thanks so much.

Raymond.

this poss could be geoffrey an linda marriage

GREENWOOD Arthur G FISHER Linda 1942 Halesowen, St John the Baptist West Midlands Stourbridge Register Office 014/013/325

poss geoffrey birth

LAYTON Arthur G 1922 Halesowen West Midlands Dudley Register Office HAL/106/233

Births Mar 1922

Layton Arthur G Layton Stourbridge 6c 36

looks a good possibility for geoffrey may be didnt like arthur if it was his first name so used geoffrey instead and it matches in with that marriage to linder fisher with surname changed to greenwood because of the adoption

what do you think raymond
