From my family records:-
George Darby died 28/11/1876 Bumble Hole , Dudley, Worcs.
A report in County Express of Saturday December 9th “ A similar verdict was returned at an inquest subsequently held at the Jolly Miner Inn , on the body of an old man named George Darby who was killed at the Gawn Colliery belonging to messrs. N. Hingley & Sons . Deceased was fatally injured by being struck with the pit chain whilst he was employed on the surface”

I have added NL.
George Darby's daughter Priscilla Darby married Joseph Parsons and their daughter Ellen Parsons ( my grandmother) married Edward Brookes who died in accident at Jubilee Pit in 1928 when a chain levering props and coal snapped and hit him.
Almost the same accident as grandfather of his wife Ellen Parsons.
