I'm not sure, NL, but I think you just said that Ann PARKES who married William BAKER is her own sister Ann PARKES, who married first William TILLEY anf then her own brother, James PARKES. ... and thus is simultaneously her daughter, Selina's mother, mother-in-law and aunt. Or am I just confused by too many Ann Parkes?

No! did I??? Ok meant this .....

William Baker married Ann Parkes
Ann Parkes had a brother called James Parkes
James Parkes married Ann Tilley( that is her married name - as she married a William Tilley)

On the 1851 James Parkes is next door to Richard Baker.

So come on Di or anyone have a look at it for me...what do you think!

I think that is how Selina and Richard met.
Ann Tilley became his auntie.

This is how I've made sense of it for myself ...

Richard PARKES & Ann Unknown had children James and Ann.
Ann married William BAKER, & they had Richard.

Joseph TILLY & Ann Unknown had children William and Richard.
William TILLEY married Ann HARVEY (daughter of Thomas), they had children Selina, Mary & Hannah.

William TILLEY died 1838.

In 1839 there are 2 marriages:
1. James PARKES married Ann Tilley (Nee HARVEY) the widow of William TILLEY.

2. Selina TILLEY married Richard BAKER, the son of her mother’s new sister-in-law, Ann BAKER (nee PARKES).

We have identified 2 different Ann UNKNOWNs (Ann PARKES & Ann HARVEY) and gained 2 more: Ann married to Joseph TILLEY, & Ann married to Richard PARKES !

TOO many Anns & Richards for my brain to cope with!!! :?

William TILLEY died 1838.

Just want to add that this entry is

7th Aug 1838 William Tilley Spring House 35 Cold in the RR parish records so his age seems right.
All looking good :-)

I have put most of this on Connections with accompanying notes.
I am still not convinced that James and Ann Parkes are bro and sister but they are certainly connected....so notes have gone on until otherwise informed.
Too many loose ends on this lot!

so unless otherwise informed this topic will be moved to archived section within 24 hrs
