1851 Census Overend Cradley
Moses Hipkiss HD M 73 Iron Manufacturer Rowley Regis
Sarah Wife 60 Tarrdebigg Worcs
Moses Son U 23 Forgeman Lye Worcs
Sarah D U 16 Cradley Worcs

Tarrdebigg is half in Worcs and half in Warks near Redditch, has a very interesting History. There are some books knocking about on Tarrdebigg, I did read one a few years back. Sarah's Mother may have been visiting relations when Sarah was born, it doesn't mean that her family were actually from there?? Who knows  linell.

The Vicar's Notebook for Cradley 1857 says that 'Sarah Hipkiss has lived here 31 years' so it does sound as though she was from somewhere else, like Tarrdebigg I suppose?? linell.

1841
Rowley Regis
Jas Hipkiss,50,forgeman,y
Mariah ditto,50,n
Henry ditto,20,y
Thomas ditto,18,y

Henry has a submitted entry as bapt 21 1821 Halesowen, James Hipkiss, Maria Warr

Doesn't help with Mariah's origins though other than not Staffordshire for birth

James bpt 21st June 1818 James and Maria Hipkiss, Hill, Forgeman
Henry 21st Jan 1821 James and Maria Hipkiss, Hill, Forgeman
Francis bpt 17th Nov 1822 James and Maria Hipkiss, Rowley, forgeman
David bpt 20 Mar 1825 James and Maria Hipkiss, Rowley, Forgeman

Hi NL, have added the names for the children of James Hipkiss and Maria, 11 in all. A few queries, 1841 Census has a son Thomas aged 18 born about 1822, same age as Francis Baptised 1822 who is not on the Census, are they one of the same? Strange as I found all the Baptisms except for this Thomas, I suppose he may not be a son being as the 1841 Census does not give relationships??

Maria Warr seems to be the daughter of John Warr and Ruth Oldnall they Married 23.4.1791 Kingswinford. Maria Baptised 1.4.1798, yet she is aged 50 on the 1841 Census, another 1841 anomally I suppose?? Siblings are John Baptised Halesowen 1796, Charles baptised 1809 Bromsgrove (this could be the Tarrdebigg connection) Joseph baptised Cradley 1800, and Sarah baptised 1792 Old Swinford. The baptism of Charles in Bromsgrove now makes me think that this Sarah could be the one who Married Moses Hipkiss?? Moses and Sarah have a Granddaughter called Ruth Needs some more investigation I think :!: Best Wishes from linell.

Just checked the Marriages of Moses Hipkiss to Sarah Warr and the one of James Hipkiss to Maria Warr, they were both Witnesses at each other's Marriages, must be brothers and sisters............linell.
