ARC TBC John & Sarah Davies

Post by CJCollins »

Hi
I hope somebody can help as I have been stuck on this part of my tree for months now. My gt-gt-gf was Hector Davies, born 28th March 1850 in Llandybie. His birth and baptism documents state that he is the "illegitimate son".of Sarah Davies. The 1851 census has him as the nephew of Margaret Davies, Head of the household in Llandybie.

Hector's marriage certificate names his father as John Davies, a labourer.

I have found a number of John Davies and Sarah Davies in and around Llandybie, but I have no way of knowing which, if any, are the right ones and as I do not know the area, nor habe any living family members, I am blocked from going any further

I do hope somebody can help and thank you in advance.

Hi

Did you manage to find the the three people from the 1851 census in 1861 or 1871? Or 1841 for Margaret and William?

Hi Jimmy
I too managed to find the 1861 census with an unmarried Sarah Davies having a son called Hector Rees. Sarah has the same occupation (gate keeper) as Sarah Davies so I am assuming this is the same person. The 1841 census also shows she had two sons with the surname Lewis so I guess she had a number of children by different men.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to progress any further than that. If you have any information please do let me know as I am really keen to find out as much as I can about our ancestors.

Thank you
