Best Software

Postby Owlie185 » Fri May 31, 2019 9:20 am

What is the best software to use to create a family tree? I use Microsoft Windows and I would like to be able to send a copy of the family tree as an attachment to an E-mail or to print it off and send in the post for other members of the family to review and correct. any errors. Many thanks.

Have you looked at Tribal Pages? https://www.tribalpages.com/index.html
It is an online family tree.
It can be free but you have other options for a paid site with no adverts etc.
You can down load your tree or invite family to view it or add to it too.

Most genealogy software packages work from .ged files which have standards that allow other genealogy programmes to read them (some not so successfully) but, as far as I know, they should all allow you to print off 'reports' that can be used for snail mailing or saved as some kind of text file for internet transfer. Personally I use MyHeritage as I like the layout.
Currently investigating the Hillmans of Sussex.
