James Skidmore born 1785 connects to Linell

Post by mumbles »

https://www.tribalpages.com/tribe/brows ... =801701803

I have added all missing Census Details in an effort to try and connect to a Benjamin Skidmore born 1820 Merry Hill Staffs.
who married an Elizabeth Palmer 1n 1849 St. Edmunds but marriage shows no father details
I have 1851 Census details onwards for Benjamin and Elizabeth but no obvious connection to Benjamin Skidmore born 1819 son of James Skidmore

Cannot find Benjamin Skidmore who married Elizabeth Palmer in 1841 Census ? which might help to connect

The oldest surviving son of Charles [113] and Esther (Cartwright) Skidmore,
236. BENJAMIN7 SKIDMORE, miner of Dudley, was born on 24 October 1819 at Blue Ball, Merry Hill and baptised at St Mary's, Oldswinford on 27 May 1821. He lived at least for a time after the death of his father with his maternal grandparents in Merry Hill.
He married Elizabeth Palmer (born about 1817 in Worcester) on 29 October 1849 at St Edmund's, Dudley. They lived in the Dock area of Dudley, in 1851 in Dock Lane, in 1857 in Cross Street, while the 1861 census finds them at 50 Chapel Street, Holly Hall with their two sons.

I have Benjamin Skidmore born 1819 who married Esther Palmer and have Census details of family right through to 1911
They had a son Benjamin Skidmore Palmer who was born 1847 two years before they married and often family switched from Skidmore to Skidmore-Palmer surname and back again

sp1 suggests Benjamin born 1819 is son of Charles Skidmore but how is it proven as when he married no father is recorded ?
unless we are going by Baptism

You are right.
If Charles had died it is often missed off marriage records. The witnesses to the marriage I haven't seen a clue either?
Perhaps if you add what you have then see if any family are near by? Or perhaps staying with them. Are they witnesses to any other family members marriage?
If not a note that it possibly connects?

All aded with note but I think should be connected to Charles Skidmore
https://www.tribalpages.com/tribe/brows ... =188577961

I think sp1 is right about being son of Charles Skidmore as he named his son Charles and grd.son was named Charles.

I have also added a note that family changed to Skidmore-Palmer after 1911 as Benjamin born 1847 was registered
as Skidmore Palmer in 1847 and his parents did not marry until two years later
