Hi just joined. I live in Brighouse In West Yorkshire. looking for many family names including Dyson, Jackson, Swallow, Kirkby, Sunderland, Sayles to name a few.
I am looking for some help with my 3 x's great grandmother Leah Swallow nee Dyson. Can not find her to obtain parents names.
I have her birth as Darfield but am unable to find anything to confirm it and her parents and wondered if you could offer any advice please. Doncaster archives can not find anything in their records for darfield or little houghton either??
1812 -1821 born Darfield (according to 51 and 91 census) or Little Houghton (acc to 61 and 71 and 81 census)
1836 dec 4th married James swallow at St Johns Cleckheaton. Have not found any further info on the wedding. (wakefield arc have looked for me)
1840 Son James Born Wakefield.
1841 Census - South Street, Wakefield age 25.(1816)
1843 Daughter Mary ann born Birstall.
1845 Son James born (i have the certificate) Living in Gomersal.
1848 Daughter Sarah born Birstall
1850 Son William born Birstall
1851 Census - Birstall Church Gomersal age 37.(1814)
1851 son Thomas born Birstall
1861 Census - Upper Lane Sq Cleckheaton widow age 40.(1821)
1871 Census - Square Cleckheaton nuttals with her age 55.(1816)
1881 Census - 62 Cross Ln, Gorton, Lancs.with nut age 69.(1812)
1886 Son William Dies registered Dewsbury.
1891 Census - 19 Victoria St Cleckheaton with nuttalls age 76.(1815)
1896 buried Nov 11th St Johns Cleckheaton.
Leah born 1816 meltham dies same year and
leah born 1812 rawmarsh marries Edwad windle so neither are mine!

That does look a really hard problem.
Have you tried looking at other the Dysons born around Darfield? Leah was not a very common name was it? Perhaps you could find a niece? (Straw grasping)

I have found quite a few Dysons from the same era in Darfield and have not been able to work through them down the census's yet but dont feel very confident that it will glean any info. This is so very frustrating as I would love to take my linage back further.
