Manger family missing links-Jo adding.

Post by Frodo »

My distant cousin contacted me a couple of weeks ago to let me know his mum Evelyn Whatlin had died - I was looking on Black country Connections to check out the family and realised the Manger she is descended from does not appear. I am descended through David Manger(b1838)'s first wife Hannah round's daughter Martha. Evelyn is descended through his second wife Mary Anne Smith(Peplow). On BCC David and Mary have three children - William, David and Annie but on the family tree my dad left me (sadly without any documents) there was a daughter Caroline born between William and David.

Caroline married a Benaiah Adams - if you look Benaiah up the marriage is on BCC - they had three children Annie, Minnie and Dorothy - Evelyn who has just passed away was the daughter of Annie who married an Alfred Ruston and had two children Alfred and Evelyn. Minnie married an Ernest Yale and Dorothy a William Gould.

Other than the marriage to Beniaih I can't spot anything else on BCC - has anyone any more information and could Caroline be added to the family tree - although I don't have documents I am sure the link is correct as my distant cousin Keith has the same information through family trees/research, paperwork his mother has etc

Caroline in in the census for 1881 as Caroline Smith. http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... ver=360174
Is that just a mistake? Her birth was registered after the marriage.

Annie Laura Adams married Alfred Rushton/Ruston (connected up) - http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... ver=360258

I haven't connected up Caroline to her parents, I'll leave it to Jan or Jo to see what they think

Will try and contact my distant cousin to get confirmation of dates for Evelyn. Yes please link Martha and David. I notice Beaumont Road on the information - seems to be a lot of Mangers and Taylors on that road. Think I recognise names of the witnesses - will dig out my family info again over the next few days.

I have had an e mail from my distant cousin - Evelyn was born 1st February 1922 - she passed away on 8th January. He mentions that her mum was Annie Ruston (nee Adams) born 1895 or 6 and her parents were Benaiah Adams and Caroline Manger. He wasn't able to provide any other dates from what he had available but it does confirm the connection.

Looking at the witnesses for the marriage Edith Rachel Whitehouse was the daughter of Rachel Whitehouse nee Manger (from his marriage to Hannah Round). I've tried to connect Albert Cutler to the family by looking at the connections page but can't see the link. David Manger and Mary Smith's youngest Annie married an Esau Cutler and had 4 children - Edith, Alec? (either an Alec who married a Mary or vice versa - think the way dad did the tree it's an Alec), Blanche and Annie. I've not been able to match these names for definite on the connections - neither of the Esau Cutler's look right.
