How to link online Family Tree to the one on the hardrive?

Post by Waltzer7 »

Hi,

I'm currently using the online Family Tree under www.ancestry.co.uk and I would like to be able to update the one I have on the laptop in the Family Tree Maker 2012 and then, there's the Genviewer (not sure how to use the latter?).

As I cannot use the online Family Tree to show my Dad and Auntie due to no broadband being available at their homes so it would be great if I could somehow manage to have both family trees sync together as I go along updating the one online if that is possible?

Thanks

Mags

I'm not aware of any automatic syncing from Ancestry to another programme.
I don't know if Ancestry allow you to export a gedcom from their family tree. If so you can do it manually by exporting the gedcom from Ancestry to your computer and loading it into the programmes you have on your home computer.
MyHeritage does have syncing with its website to its Family Tree Builder programme.
Currently investigating the Hillmans of Sussex.
