Newspaper article on all brother which Sandra is posting for me, I'm unsure what newspaper it was, looks like 1916 though
However the description on James reads
The Eldest brother James Thornton was aged 41 last may. He is married and has a family of five children, who reside with their mother in Hall St Dudley Rd Tipton
He is an old soldier and was on the army reserve a fortnight when the South African war broke out.
He rejoined and went through that campaign without a scratch.
He rejoined the army soon after the outbreak of war in November 1914
Formerly with the Worcestershire, he is now attached to the Staffordshires.
Get has been engaged and us up to now fortunately un injured. He was employed at the Tipton Furnaces
Will post a look up in military to see if possible to connect
