Postby mumbles » Fri Jan 24, 2014 11:52 am

This Thomas Harrison Collinson became Curate at Holy Trinity Wordsley in 1888 and married Alice Oakes daughter of Edward Oakes a Brewer of Kingswinford

He wrote a number of Poetry Books and was likened to William Wordsworth as a Lakeland Poet

However he does not appear to exist before 1890 Census.

Have posted marriage to see if that helps

I don't know if you've googled him, but try this for a short bio for him:

Yes snoopysue ,
Have added everything I can but not found him before 1891 Census and 1888 at Holy Trinity.

There is a suggestion his name was Harrison not Collinson but someone sponsored him to Holy Orders and Oxford University and all Collinson and Harrisons I have found in Cumberland or Westmoreland were ordinary Ag. workers or Wool Spinners

Thanks Jimmy ,
I looked at the Durham family but it does not tie up with a son who attended Oxford Uni and became Rector and world renowned poet. The were working class and unless he had rich sponsor does not tie up
