"completed" Rosanna Hollyoak & Unknown Kettle marriage

Post by expat66 »

I have just added some Hollyoaks to BCC here

http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =266486115

The daughter Rosanna was a widow by 1851.... husband's surname would have been Kettle but I can't find a marriage ... there is a possibility that his name was John.

There is some info. on Ancestry suggesting that a John Kettle was killed in an accidental shooting accident in 1850, he would have been the son of a Joseph Kettle, who was gamekeeper on the Sandwell Hall Estate.

I have posted Rosanna's daughter Emma's marriage to see what it says for father.

Can anyone spot a possible marriage for Rosanna?

Many Thanks
Expat :-)

Thanks Jummy :-)

I also found census info. for the Joseph Kettle who was a gamekeeper.. there is a John Kettle of the right sort of age on the 1841 census? ... note.. the census was broken up like this :?:

1841. Keepers Lodge, Sandwell Park, Sandwell Hall, West Bromwich
Joseph Kettle,50,gamekeeper,
John Kettle,13, neither born in County

Garden House
George Cokely,40,bic,

Keepers Lodge
George Kettle,11,
James Kettle,7,
Maria Kettle,15,
Constantia Kettle,52, female. None bic

1851. Head Keepers House, Sandwell Park, West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England
Joseph Kettle,61,head,married, park keeper,
Constanchear Kettle,64,wife,
James Kettle,17,son, under keeper.
All born West Bromwich

Bit puzzled as to place of birth .... in 1841 not born in County (Staffordshire)
Yet in 1851 born in West Bromwich, Staffordshire?
Did County lines change?

The wife's name was new one to me .... her death is spelt as Constantia

Constantia Kettle
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1861
Registration district: West Bromwich
Inferred County: Staffordshire
Volume: 6b

Thanks again Jimmy
I have today received a ton of info. from someone on Ancestry who has lots of certificates on this family ... ties up very nicely with what you found Jimmy

John Kettle did die from accidental shooting on the Sandwell estate 25 Sep 1850
On his death certificate the Coroner has written .... "accidentally shot through the body by a ball out of a rifle gun which exploded and went off accidentally"

His poor wife had a 2 year old son and must have been pregnant with her daughter at the time of her husband's death ... explains why she was living with her parents in 1851!

I will have to find some time to work through all the info. and add what I can to BCC
