[iWilliam Hollins Jr aged 27, (according to the census) marries Esther Rees, aged 22.

William - Potter's placer earth worker
Esther - Potter's throwers asst.

Living at 7, Ford Street Longton. Witnesses I don't have the certificate to hand at the moment. William died in 1918, and apparently he passed away in the workhouse, the death certificate named Esther as surviving spouse and gave his age as 43, I believe.

Hi Northern lass,No on the marriage certificate for Esther Rees & William Hollins it gives Williams fathers name as Charles, his occupation appears to be 'carter' its hard to read it as its not clear. Also the only Charles Hollins I can find in 1901 would have been 68?

I would be tempted to send for that 1874 William Hollins and say you only want it if the father is a Charles on the birth certif.
I know that Dudley registry office are very good and do a sweep of 2yrs either side of a date/year given so might be worth an ask presume it would be Stoke on trent?

Hi, No 1871 is too early, He was 27 when he married my great grandma Ester Rees. So It looks like he was born about 1873/4, this of course would depend on what month his 27th birthday fell.Thanks. There might be a possibility of there being a link to Charles. The record shows Charles being 43 on this record, and having a son called William. This makes Charles birth year 1828 (approx), that would make him 68 in 1896, my research found a Charles who was 68 in 1901 (is it possible that there would be such a difference i.e. 5 years?)- this gets more and more confusing :? Thanks for the help - this really is a mystery.

I ont think it is because the age on the marriage certificate and the age on the 1901 census both match
