I've just been on family search and extracted the following:
Joseph Beard born about 1720 and Sarah Unknown born about 1720.

Sarah Beard christened 28 Apr 1736
Joseph Beard christened 19 Nov 1738
Thomas Beard christened 26 Dec 1743
Sarah Beard christened 1 May 1746
William Beard christened 15 Feb 1748
Mary Beard christened 8 Jul 1750
All with the parents Joseph and Sarah Beard and all christened Old Swinford,Worcestershire.
How can i say for certain which children,if any, belong to Joseph Beard and Sarah Unknown?
I noticed on Ancestry that some people had added these children but how do you know for sure?

When you get that far back, nothing is certain, its to unreliable, I gave up ages ago trying.

Sometimes Baptisms in Parish Records give you an address and sometimes an occupation. I've never really trawled through the Old Swinford records, so can't be sure if they do, but like Jimmy says, it's mostly very unreliable. I've only managed to get to the 1600's in one part of my family and that's because they lived in a little village in Cornwall, with only one church, they had a really unusual name and they were part of the church council. I did have to travel to Cornwall and look through the PRs to get this - even then I'd not put money on it.

The thing is i've been on Ancestry and a few people have Mary Ann Beard born Stoke Prior 1822 down as living in 1841 with Joseph and Eliza Beard in Dudley.Later they have the same Mary Ann marrying William Toy b.1820.
It's correct that Mary Ann married William Toy but it's not the same Mary Beard.
I've asked for a lookup for Mary Ann and William because i reckon her father is Thomas Beard.
