parish Burial

Post by viva1angel »

Hi all. am hoping someone will be able to help me with this as i am not sure what information i could get further than what i have.

I have a John Jennings Buried in mar 1840 in stafford on the IGI... Born 1777. This may be the man i have been searching for.

The Igi Does not show much more information than this, Will the main register offer more information than this? i have not had much experience on parish records when it comes to Burials. I am hoping to prove this is my man with a wife name or something?

Many thanks for any advice that can be given

Hi Emma - you could get a copy of the death certificate.

I have looked on the GRO Records and there isn't one for Stafford. However, the IGI refers to the whole of Staffordshire as Stafford, and assuming that the IGI record is correct, it could be John Jennings, March Qtr 1840, Wolverhampton District of Stafforshire.

You can order his death certificate from the GRO here : http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

Good Luck - Maggie
