Help

Postby mjay » Tue Feb 07, 2012 3:52 pm

Hi all

I've finally got round to sorting my family history folder out, and am ready to start sending off for birth certificates
(I know only 12months later lol)
But now I've left it so long I forgot what to do
I have found info on BMD I need and have found register offices online.
My question is how do I start if unsure of mothers name, know where born but don't have address where born
I'm going back to joseph Yates 1893/4 born birmingham father samuel, that Jan helped with last year and loads have been put on BCC page waiting for me to send off for these Certs. Sorry for delay

Help I'm seeing double and getting very confused be gentle with me hehehe!!!

Thank you Mandy

You don't need that information Mjay, the Index No from Free BMD, the name, registration district and year, it's been awhile since I ordered one, but I believe that adding the parents names are optional, best to add them though if you are not sure you have the correct birth registration.

Do you mean 1925 mjay for lillian?

as Linell says above the GRO you need that volume and Page no from free bmd
you can order online and put the fathers name and mother I think have a look at the GRO site.

let us know who the mother is if you don't mind

Send them an email all you want to know really is if there is a marriage for that couple

but to be honest if you look on the census and tie in the other 2 as a couple I think you could say that is your couple.

The regis office wont do look ups but I think they would confirm or deny so you dont waste your money.
depends if you want that certif or not

have you looked on family search if you can get the church you can go to walsall archives and look it up for free
