I have looked at the links kindly provided in the links forum about criminal record look ups and searched for an ancestor who was put in prison around 1907 - 1911. I have searched yet no luck. Are there any other website which can help me? Thanks

On the 1911 census image, there is no name of prison.

I had the same situation finding out about one of my ancestors being in prison on the 1901 census and I wanted to know more details. I wrote to National Archives in Scotland and asked them for info. I was so pleased to have a reply this week and it told me what I needed to know.....But I didnt know you could find out details like this online....what sites would I need to look out for???

So who do you send a letter to? I remember e - mail the HM Prison people a few years back and they said that they burn records after so many years. What sort of information did you find out?
