As a new member my first post:
Is anyone aware of the parents of William BAKER bn c. 1810 Oldbury (ex censuses) married Aug 1832 Mary HAZLEWOOD at St Mary, Handsworth (mc per parish register; supported by 1851 census)
William was publican, in 1857, at Last Inn, Langley and then, by 1861, publican of New Inn, Hobicus lane, Langley
thanks

Thanks for suggestion Jo,
Of the two witnesses I was unable to find any leads for one and the other was the brides mother.
Re your note that the 1841 census showed the occupation fitter
- the 1871 shows white smith and publican
- the 1861 shows fitter and victualler
The 1857 mc of William's daughter records William as a white smith
and Slater's, Littlebury and Kelly trade directories of various dates note occupations as victualler at the Last Inn and New Inn

Where is he born on census?
any Bakers living near him on census info?
no possible bapts coming out for that area?
names of kids clues?

Thanks for the points Northern Lass. Some thought provoking there.
His birth was an estimate from the census based on their reported age.
