Does anyone know how to get the records showing the names of the birth parents and mostly the reasons the child was given up for adoption?
I have the original birth cert for this person and also her adoption cert, but I am more interested in finding out the reason why.

Re: Adoption records
moved to misc. section.
I found the original birth certificate for the person I was searching for who was adopted.
They had an original birth with the same christian names but different surname.
Parents were on that.
The adopted person had a new birth certif with the adopted parents on.
Have you tried searching for the christian name only?/and area.
I also found the baptism name in the original surname.

Re: Adoption records
I know the birth parents names and the adopted parents (the 2 mothers were sisters). Just wondered if there was any paper work giving the reason for the adoption especially when the birth mother was married.

Re: Adoption records
I presume that that info sits with the council section who has the adopted info.
From what I was told it can only be released to the adopted person.
The rules might have changed.
So might be worth writing to the relevant area/section.

Re: Adoption records
The adopted person has been dead 15 years but her son is alive. I presume he would be the one who could apply.
