Unexpected details in a newspaper

Postby gardener » Mon Jan 04, 2021 5:11 pm

I was very surprised to find a section of a Derbyshire paper headed "Treated cases". It lists people seen at some sort of A&E in the 1920s-30s. So my grandfather is there "Fred Rose. 66. Arkwright Town, miner at Markham No. 2 Colliery, injury to hand, at work."

I knew of the injury but not the year, and it also gives his home address and workplace. His daughter is entered in another year for "burnt finger at home."

It just shows how much there is in the way of small detail in the newspaper archives!
