I noticed thread about WW1 use of Workhouses by ordinary people for Medical Facilities as other facilities were taken up by War Casualties.
Did people of all classes use workhouse facilities in early 1900,s ? not just inmates

If you could afford it you used a doctor, all medical treatment was private although you could get insurance, the workhouse was for those without insurance or funds. The novel The Citadel, by A J Cronin, although set after WWI, gives an idea of what was available and where.
