The Peveril Pub - where is it?

Hi

I attach a family photo of what looks like a "girls(!) day out" in maybe the 1950s. In the background you can see a pub "The Peveril". Any idea where it might be?

Most of my relatives come from the East End of London but I don't recognise the area and can't find any evidence of a pub of this name in London

I don't know of a pub of that name but might your relatives have travelled north? There is a Peveril Castle in Castleton built for a William Peveril in Norman times so perhaps there was a pub/hotel in the area as well.

Is that a telescope thing above their heads? East End makes me think Eastenders and Southend. There was a Peveril Restaurant on Marine Parade - maybe it was that?

The telescope thingy looks like a radio communication mast.
