During my searching, Ive encountered some family members born in Ormskirk mainly during the 19th century. Digging a bit further than my family, the vast majority ( well, nearly all) have surnames the same as the mother maiden name or have mothers maiden name not given. Im guessing that there was an unmarried mothers facility in Ormskirk but I cant find any specific. There is mention of homes for “ fallen” women, destitute women etc. Can anyone shed any more light
