Coal Mining - Accidents / Disasters circa 1850, West Brom

Post by nocky1972 »

Hi All,
does anyone have any information on Coal mining in the West Bromwich area circa 1850. My Gt Gt Gt Grandfather Thomas Nock was a miner in 1851 and died some time between 1851 and 1861.. I know that this profession was extremely dangerous at this time; is there any documentation (newspaper archives etc) out there that would mention mining disasters/obituaries that may possibly mention him. I understand its a common name for that era and I have tried but failed to find his death certificate.

I hope to hear something soon

Kind Regards
