Marine Store Dealer

Postby Paul-E » Sun Nov 08, 2009 10:05 pm

My GGGgrandmother Charlott Teal is listed in 1861 (South Worcestershire) census as a 'Marine Store Dealer'

I have been reading up and found a Marine Store Dealer is in fact a dealer in scrap materials....type of work often done by gypsies?!?

I have been struggling to find any info on her husband William or Robert Teal, though I do have a marraige IGI of them in 1836. The only other info is a birth of Charlott and also in 1841 and 1861 census.

I am waiting for copy of Parish register of marriage to try and move on, I was just wondering if in those days (1830's) gypsies would marry in a parish church? I am worried if they are (or William) was a gypsy it could be the end of the line for the Teal search?

A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.
