ARC TBC - Par(r)ish Family, Kingswinford *a*

Postby kdp » Mon Nov 08, 2010 6:38 pm

Hi all,

Any help or suggestions to burst through my brick wall will be gratefully received...

I am trying to find a James and Elizabeth Par(r)ish...I know very little of them, as i can find no paperwork pre 1841.

James Parish...
In 1841 he is living at Bromley In Kingswinford with his daughter Jane Jones and her family, dob is stated as 1766 and he is a Labourer. There is a y in the coloumn asking if born in county. He died in 1843 in Kingswinford aged 75 of old age and Elizabeth Parrish was present at the death and the informant.
His son Thomas married in 1840 in Dudley and James is stated as a Brickmaker. His daughter Ann married in 1844 and James is marked as deceased..

Elizabeth Parish...
In 1841 Elizabeth is living with 2 children and a lodger in Bromley, Kingswinford, her age is stated as 50, and it does appear to say widow tho this seems to be crossed out, and there is a n in the column asking if born in county.
In 1851 Elizabeth is visiting her son John (brickmaker) and family, in Presteigne Radnorshire, 68 year old Widow born Stonebridge Staffordshire.
In 1861 a 74 year old widowed Elizabeth born worcester, stourbridge is living with her daughter Ann (Gould) and family, Bromley Lane, Kingswinford.
Elizabeth dies in 1867 in Kingswinford aged 81 of Senile Certified Decay, she is stated as the widow of James Parrish, brickburner, deceased and the informanr ins Elizabeth Malpass (daughter)

I have been able to connect all the children together through having neices and or nephews living with them at some time.
Thomas (my ggg Grandfather) was born in 1818 in Brierly Hill.
Jane (jones) was born in 1809 I beleive in Shropshire.
Mary (cox) was born in 1811 in Shropshire.
Elizabeth (malpas) I beleive was born in 1817 place so far unknown.
Ann (Gould) was born in 1822 in Bridgnorth Shropshire
and John was born in 1827 in Bridgnorth Shropshire

Any information or research tips would be most welcome, I have been down all the obvious routes via comp and been through local parish records.

Thanks for looking

Hi Peter...
There appears, online to be 2 entries for thomas in brierley hill on same day in 1818. I have the parish record transcript and it states mother as Elizabeth..which is slightly confusing?
Yep you have found the same births as me :P

I have looked at the Elizabeth Woodhall one but it didnt sit right with me for some reason which i cant remember now lol will have another look and get back asap

Thank you peter
