Not sure what this means.. this is what's on the disc
*17 Apr 1820
Charles Griffiths, otp & Elizabeth Howles, otp
by Banns J.T. Matthews
Wit - Joseph Spittle & Thos. Walker
* (in the margin is written "Charles Griffiths & Elizabeth Howles were asked in Church on May 19 1816 and two following Sundays. Before I married them I enquired of Mr Spittle, Overseer of Old Swinford, who was well aquainted with the parties if he knew of any reason why they should not be married. He said he knew none signed" J.T. Matthews)

wow thats odd thanx very much for info the plot gets deeper always favoured the 1816 date but whats going on with the 1820?are there any other marriages with similiar notes,? cant understand what oldswinford overseer has got to do with it as all records point to kingswinford. Can i be cheeky and ask you if there are any more griffiths marriages around that time as any siblings could lead to the elusive name of his parents

Maybe they were underage
Had a look for similar notes, but don't see any.
Also looked for a Charles or Elizabeth Griffiths as witnesses - nothing there either.
Have a look at IGI batch M053731, there are heaps of Griffith marriages in Kingswinford, see if there's any you would like looked up.
