think this is alfred ernest warner dec qarter 1888 is your alfred

if you send for birth cert at brighton and hove (think this is the right regstrar) tell them you only want it if father walter then you will confirm mothers maiden name here the link

Yes it is thank you very much - he was in the Navy and then a Coastguard and when we obtained his naval record, his father had signed it and put and address in Kentish Town, so we were able to find the birth location from that. But when you look at all the documents below - you can understand why it was so confusing, that's without the fact that some documents just say Walter and others say Walter Francis:

Census information says birth year is 1850
Naval documentation states 20 July 1852.
LDS: Walter Francis 15 Jul 1849. Baptism 26 Aug 1849 at Old Church, St Pancras - same as sibblings.

A big thank you to everyone who tried to help. It really is appreciated.
