Hello all,

I am a new member to the forum - so hello!
Currently, I am researching into the Hambrook name. I don’t know much about census’, but I am curious as to why a street isn’t found on the 1911 census - Invicta Road, Folkestone. I know it was built because I looked at a map for a few years earlier.
One of my ancestors has a marriage certificate and his address at the time was 1 Invicta Road. I searched his name, and nothing comes up.

I’d be really grateful if someone could help me out with this! Thanks!

Hello Amy. 1 Invicta Road can be found in the 1911 census. The residents at the time are as follows:

John Walter Castle (age 30, House Painter)
Sarah Castle (age 27)
Their 4 young children
Harry Honey (age 36, General Carter)
Charles Honey (age 13)
Robert Honey (age 10)

Registration District Number: 66
Sub-registration District: Folkestone
ED, institution, or vessel: 20
Piece: 4644

Do you have access to online newspaper collections on either Find My Past or the BNA (British Newspaper Archive)?
There is a June 1917 newspaper report which mentions an Ethel Hambrook (age 12) of 1 Invicta Road, daughter of Mrs Hambrook.

It looks to be related to a Coroner's Report, possibly regarding casualties of a WW1 bombing.
