My great great grandfather, John Bellshaw, was born between 1820-23 and moved to Scotland in time for the first census in 1841.
That census (and subsequent ones) shows his birthplace as England. (No other detail).
When he died in 1890 his son registered the death and John Bellshaw's parents are shown as John Bellshaw and Mary Bellshaw, nee White.
I can find absolutely no trace of a union, or any other information, relating to John Bellshaw and Mary White (including any other siblings)
I make no assumption that although John Bellshaw was born in England his parents were English, or married in England.
This is a real brick wall for me and any help / advice would be appreciated
