ARC TBC Parents of John Smith baptised 31 December 1809?

Postby Waltzer7 » Fri Oct 12, 2018 3:28 pm

Hi,

I have the parents down as Thomas Smith and Kitty as being the parents of John Smith as shown below: -

Name John Smith
Gender Male
Baptism Date 31 Dec 1809
Baptism Place Park Lane Presbyterian,Cradley,Worcester,England
Father Thomas Smith
Mother Kitty
FHL Film Number 0816598 (RG4 1907), 0816598 (RG4 2015)
Household Members
NameAge
Name
Thomas Smith
Name
Kitty
Name
John Smith

My Auntie has John's Mother Kitty's maiden name down as Sullivan but I'm unable to find any evidence but have noticed on the below listed 1841 Census that there is a Denis Sullivan aged 90 at the bottom of the page, underneath Hannah Smith aged 1.

1841. Netherend, Cradley.
John Smith 30. Nailer.
Eliza Smith 25. (nee Talbot)
Harriott Smith 6.
Ann Smith 5.
Felix Smith 3.
Hannah Smith 1.
Denis Sullivan - Sailor or Tailor? age 90 not born in the area/UK so could he have come from Ireland and is he related to Kitty?

If anyone could look this up? It will be much appreciated.

Thanks Jimmy and this brings me to my next question, which is, were the houses in Netherend, Cradley known as "workhouses"? Or is the workhouse elsewhere?

Apologies if you didn't understand my query. I mean were there workhouses/poorhouses in Netherend? If not, where were the the workhouses based in the Kingswinford parish?

I think it says Tailor and not born county. Little bit old for farther of Eliza? And where does kitty come in?
Do you want this sent to brickwalls?

I think Denis Sullivan was just a boarder at the time and not connected to the family.

Kitty was the name of John Smith's mother and I'm trying to find out her surname...:-

Name John Smith
Gender Male
Baptism Date 31 Dec 1809
Baptism Place Park Lane Presbyterian,Cradley,Worcester,England
Father Thomas Smith
Mother Kitty
FHL Film Number 0816598 (RG4 1907), 0816598 (RG4 2015)
Household Members
NameAge
Name
Thomas Smith
Name
Kitty
Name
John Smith

Possibly Kitty Barnsley?

Is this still a Brickwall, or have you solved it?

Unless otherwise advised this will be moved to the Brickwalls Archived section
within 24 hours
