ARC TBC BASTABLE family Oldbury - Bricklayers

Postby Rob G » Fri Jun 23, 2017 3:14 pm

Looking for assistance regarding following ancestors -

David BASTABLE (1835-1912) m. Maria SKIDMORE (b. 1839) St Thomas Dudley 19 Sep 1858
have traced their children as follows:
John 1859-1912
Sarah Jane 1863-1935
William 1868-
George 1869-1938
Emmanuel 1874-
Mary Rebecca 1874-
David 1875
James 1881-1895

Of the above I am particularly interested in John 1859, William 1868, Emmanuel 1874 and James 1881, of whom I have very few details.

They come from a long line of bricklayers residing Oldbury, Causeway Green, Ashes, The Hill and Blackheath.

See here, page 11 onwards for the descendants of James Skidmore b1803:

http://www.skidmorefamilyhistory.com/SK ... 2%2001.pdf

His parents etc are on the pages just before. They can be connected to earlier generations on BCC.

Regarding the connection with BASTABLEs in Australia - don't recognise those mentioned but...

Emmanuel WEBB m. Sarah Jane BASTABLE - their son Arthur b. 1884 Oldbury emigrated to Sydney NSW between 1900-1905, as yet I have not traced the actual date/vessel. He too was a bricklayer who went on to raise a large family in Oz after marrying Florence E RANKIN at Casino NSW in 1907.

However, those you have mentioned must surely have some kind of connection to this family?

In respect of the three going to Australia in 1904 -

William b. 1868
Emmanuel b. 1874
David b. 1875

I would guess that they were the sons of David BASTABLE b. 1835 & wife Maria Skidmore b. 1839

Is this still a Brickwall, or have you solved it?

Unless otherwise advised this will be moved to the Brickwalls Archived section
