She married for the first time in Portsmouth, but she was apparently born in Hull and Hilda and Reginald apparently got married in 1925 in Hull and were recorded as living in Hull up to 1931...

well done

so she marries in 1945 to John Feat
then divorces in 1965 and marries in 1967
Marriages Dec 1967
FEAT MARGARET INGRAM GOSPORT 6B 710
INGRAM FREDERICK H FEAT GOSPORT 6B 710

then remarries in 1981

you have the first marriage you say?
I would get the other 2 marriage records...but they may be viewable somewhere online without shelling out.

If we can find them on ukbmd or on ancestry or find my past

not sure that the death info would give her maiden name.

but the marriage records might have a fathers name on other than jones.

Do you have Reginald's will? Does that refer to Margaret in any way?

Thanks :) Okay I’m going to get the other marriage records. Yes I have the one to my grandfather. Reginald Wyndham Jones is on there as her father. Her name is there as Margaret Jones..

She had my dad in 1947 and his brother 5 years later. Her maiden name on my dad’s birth certificate is Jones …

Do you know when Hilda met Reginald?
they marry 9th feb 1925 at St Paul sculcoates Kingston upon hull?

where is Hilda in any electoral census pre 1925
ie where is she in 1924...and what month or part of the year is that on the elec registers?

Do you know where in Worcs she was baptised?...or what denomination she was...
where in worcs was she born?

Just wondering if she maybe baptised Margaret at a worcs. church.

or with Margaret saying born in Hull always....was she bapt at a Hull church. :?

I don’t know when or where Hilda met Reginald, but yes I think they married Feb 9th 1925 in Hull. I have no record of Hilda between 1911 and 1925 though.

Her birth certificate doesn’t say what denomination she was, but they were married in St Paul’s in Sculcoates - which currently is C of E. I know nothing of a baptism for Hilda.

There is no date on the electoral roll entries, just the year. I’ll try to attach them to this message. (NB. Reginald is recorded as Wyndham age 5 in the 1911 census) - *Ah, they won't attach. But I listed them earlier*

What do you think about the electoral roll entries at 21, Caroline Place? Hilda doesn't show up there until 1929, which is strange. Wyndham or Whyndham is a very unusual name. And his 'middle' name in Caroline Place is Reginald.

Yes, this is basically the last record I have found of Hilda in Worcester....

Thank you for your brain assistance, Northern Lass!! :)

Ah, brilliant - thank you gardener! That was bugging me! :)
I wonder why Emily Dixon is there prior to 1929, but Hilda Jones isn't? ..

I've been looking at Reginald's antecedents using the info on the marriage certificate, he gives his father as George Edward and there is a 1901 census record:
48 Fitzwilliam Street, Hoyland Nether, Yorkshire
Charles Sellars, Head, 47, Coal Miner, Elsecar, Yorkshire
Mary J Sellars, Wife, 40, ,Elsecar, Yorkshire
George E Sellars, Son, 17, Iron Moulder, Elsecar, Yorkshire
Edith Sellars, Daur, 7, , Elsecar, Yorkshire
Kate Sellars, Daur, 3, ,Elsecar, Yorkshire
Maria Sellars, Daur 3mo, ,Elsecar, Yorkshire
One site transcribes Sellars as Sollars but the image definitely looks like Sellars
An iron moulder could also be a pattern maker.

However George also shows in the 1911 Census still living with his family and described as single and a coal miner.

But, if that George Edward is his father, Reginald was probably illegitimate but knew of his parentage. It may have been that George was, by the time of Reg's marriage, living with Reg's mother. Can someone look George up in the 1939 Register?

Also, it looks like Hilda's father died in 1923:
Deaths Mar 1923 (>99%)
Hardwick William H 64 Worcester 6c 138
which ties up with the certificate.

Incidentally, did you keep a note of the details on that 1924 Hardwick Margaret Sedgewick birth?

Did you notice that, despite being of age, and her siblings being shown as 'School' Hilda has no entry against occupation?

Thank you for your research, SRD :) The GRO didn't give me Margaret Sedgwick's DOB, they just refunded me saying that it wasn't 31/12/1923. Is there anywhere else I should go with that record?

Did you mean for me to ignore what you mentioned about George E Sellars/Sollars?

Wow, strange - so she might not have gone to school?
