ARC TBC Find my past-John Pugh 1886

Postby Silver surfer » Sun Mar 05, 2017 4:03 pm

After watching heir hunters on tv I realise there is another source of registers for us genies, the 1939 register taken from identity cards issued prior to war. You can search these registers for free but need to pay to view, about £7 for one view!!! but free if you have a sub to FMP. Does anyone out there have one?

I think my paternal gd father John Pugh b1886 is registered at a house in RR with a James Hackett. I never knew him and as my father was brought up by his gd parents I only know when dads mother died in 1916 he picked up the children from the workhouse infirmary and then disappeared. Heard about him as I was growing up but never knew where he lived. Can someone please look this up???

That's wonderful, thank you so much. Mom said he was a welder so must be him. Says he is married but where is his wife? Think I've found his death in 1958 aged 72 but wonder who was his second wife. We did have a photo of him when I was a child but we used it as a dart board. What I would give for that now! He was my only grd parent alive and I never knew him, how sad is that? Thanks again.

NL don't know where I got 2 Sep from. Have his birth cert and its deffo 9 Feb 1886 at 116 Wagon St RR (Old Hill) to William Pugh and Maria nee White. Anna Maria that would be. Her mother Selina White present at birth.
Do you think Dorothy Hackett (Homer) is his step daughter?

Hitting a brick wall with Elizabeth Homer. Dorothy Homer mar James Hackett and her mothers maiden name given as Harris. Cant find a mar for Elizabeth Harris to a Homer so perhaps she isn't Dorothys mum. John mar Elizabeth Homer 1920 after first wife died Sep 1916 while he was on active service. Can anyone find her first marriage?

You may have to get that dudley regis office marriage of John pugh and elizabeth homer.

I have the marriage of dorothy homer and James thomas hackett will add to bcc in a min
father for dorothy is Jason homer
so that seems to mean mother is a harris....so could be that Elizabeth Harris is the Elizabeth Homer married to John Pugh in 1920
when did Jason homer die?

and where are they on 1911

1906
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference

I came to conclusion that her hubby was Jason Homer. Just found his death in military records 1914-18. That would tie in with Dorothys birth 1917 and Elizabeths remarriage 1920. As I don't have ancestry just popping to library to have a look at his service record in SStaffs reg.

Cos she is a Mary Ann Elizabeth Harris
just added loads to Bcc

her father is a Jason Homer...so he dies in 1918
John Pughs wife dies 1916 so
Elizabeth Homer and John pugh marry in 1920....still need that marriage really but looks good to me.

Elizabeth Harris aka Mary ann elizabeth harris seems to use Elizabeth and Mary ann as her name as suits

That's great, it had to be them in 1911 as correct age for Jason and the number of years married and location. Thanks for that. There is another Mary Ann but her spouse is Benjamin Homer.
Jason was K I A 3 Oct 1918 in France. Wonder how many more kids they had b4 he went to war. There were 4 in 5yrs, and the last in 1917 ie Dorothy.
Will send for gd dad Pughs marriage cert to be cert, pardon the pun.

Thanks everyone for all the input. Better late than never. Thinking about it no wonder there was animosity towards John if he left his own 4 kids and married a woman with at least 5, the eldest being only 13 and the youngest 3. Wonder how many more she had with Jason. Shall have to wait for 1921 census !!!!!
